The winter camp of the ViSAS project took place under the Andalusian sun in February 2022. ViSAS stands for „Virtual Social Art Stage“. The aim of the project is to bring youth work into the digital space with artistic means from various European organisations.
In the course of the winter camp, 16 participants aged between 18 and 30, three trainers and five European partner organisations (see below) prepared and rehearsed a joint play for 10 days as part of a blended mobility. The countdown to the camp was experienced with excitement and everyone was thrilled when they could finally enter the Palomar de la Breña – a small hotel with its own dovecote. In advance, there were many preparation meetings on the project’s own platform, so it was easy for everyone to recognise and meet each other.
The participants dedicated the 10 days to the fairy tale „Sleeping Beauty“ and the related questions about the future. A real undertaking, as the working process was to function in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. Whether it was the proximity to the sea, the sun, the community or simply the possibility to communicate with hands and feet, it worked! On the last evening of the camp, the participants performed their show „Sleeping Beauty… what now?“ to much applause during a multiplier event. But first, the ViSAS project, the digital platform and the planned playbook were presented by Projektfabrik. Kerstin Guhlemann from the Social Research Centre of the TU Dortmund also explained the planned scientific paper about ViSAS and the evaluation.
Unter der Sonne Andalusiens hat im Februar das Wintercamp unseres ViSAS –Projektes stattgefunden. „ViSAS“ steht dabei für „Virtual Social Art Stage“. Ziel des Projektes ist es, Jugendarbeit mit künstlerischen Mitteln verschiedener europäischer Organisationen in den digitalen Raum zu bringen.
Im Zuge des Wintercamps haben 16 Teilnehmende zwischen 18 und 30 Jahren, drei Trainerinnen und fünf europäische Partnerorganisationen (s. unten) im Rahmen einer Blended Mobility 10 Tage lang ein gemeinsames Theaterstück vorbereitet und geprobt. Der Countdown bis zum Camp wurde mit Spannung erlebt und alle waren begeistert, als sie endlich das Palomar de la Breña – ein kleines Hotel mit eigenem Taubenschlag – betreten konnten. Im Voraus gab es viele Vorbereitungstreffen auf der projekteigenen Plattform, sodass es allen leicht fiel einander zu erkennen und zu begegnen. Die Partnerorganisation Avanzarte empfing alle herzlich und machte das Ankommen leicht.
Die Teilnehmenden haben sich in den 10 Tagen dem Märchen „Dornröschen“ und den damit verbundenen Zukunftsfragen gewidmet. Ein wirkliches Unterfangen, da der Arbeitsprozess auf Englisch, Französisch, Spanisch, Italienisch und Deutsch funktionieren sollte. Ob es an der Nähe zum Meer, der Sonne, der Gemeinschaft oder einfach an der Möglichkeit mit Händen und Füßen zu kommunizieren lag, es hat funktioniert! Am letzten Abend des Camps haben die Teilnehmenden unter viel Applaus ihre Show „Sleeping Beauty… what now?“ im Zuge eines Multiplier Events aufgeführt (Fotos und Videos findet ihr auf unserem Instagramaccount …. .Aber zunächst wurde das ViSAS Projekt, unsere digitale Plattform sowie unser geplantes Playbook durch die Projektfabrik vorgestellt. Kerstin Guhlemann von der Sozialforschungsstelle der TU Dortmund hat außerdem das geplante wissenschaftliche Paper über ViSAS sowie die Evaluation erklärt.

After the participants had said goodbye the next day, the partner organisations had a two-day project meeting. There will be a reunion for some of the participants when the partner organisation Patchanka hosts the autumn camp in Turin. The digital reunion has already been decided, the commitment is being cultivated. The partner organisations are already looking forward to October in Turin.
Schon am nächsten Morgen haben sich die Teilnehmer:innen voneinander verabschiedet, zum Teil unter Tränen. Für die Partnerorganisationen stand dann noch ein zweitägiges Projektmeeting an.
Ein Wiedersehen wird es für ein paar der Teilnehmenden geben, wenn im Herbst unsere Partnerorganisation Patchanka das Herbstcamp ausrichtet. Das digitale Wiedersehen ist schon beschlossen, die Verbindlichkeit wird gepflegt. Wir bedanken uns im Besonderen beim Team des Palomar de la Breña, der Organisation Avanzarte und freuen uns auf den Oktober in Turin.
