THE IDEA AND AIM OF ViSAS

How can European youth work remain innovative, creative and sustainable, despite the pandemic? This question is addressed in the project „ViSAS – Virtual Social Art Stage“ with a transformation of artistic methods into the digital space. The Erasmus+ project officially started with an online kick-off event on 15th of April 2021.

Wie kann europäische Jugendarbeit innovativ und nachhaltig bleiben, trotz Pandemie? Diese Frage stellt sich das Projekt „ViSAS – Virtual Social Art Stage“ mit einer Transformation künstlerischer Methoden in den digitalen Raum. Das Erasmus+ Projekt ist am 15. April 2021 mit einer online-Kick-off-Veranstaltung offiziell gestartet.

The Covid19 pandemic intensifies social and economic challenges in Europe, making youth work as important as it is problematic to implement in view of the current restrictions. Against this background, seven European partners from Italy, France, Spain and Germany have come together in the ViSAS project to develop and test a way of activating younger generations: The transformation of artistic methods into digital space. Aim of the project is to create a virtual space for hybrid artistic youth work, develop concepts and ideas of its use and prove its effects scientifically to enable its use by further actors.

The basis of the project idea is the innovative approach of Social Art, the application and dissemination of which in Europe has already been and is being promoted in other activities of the project partners, amongst them the two other Erasmus+ projects ArtE and JobAct Europe. In social art, the empowerment of the individual is targeted, for example with the help of theatre pedagogical methods. Since the approach can look back on many years of success in its application and has experienced European dissemination (ArtE-Blog), it is now also being applied in the digital space in ViSAS. The digital space is developed and tested together with young people, professionals from youth education and art/culture as well as e-learning developers in hybrid work. Young people are actively connected across national borders, intercultural competence is strengthened and responsibility and self-determination are encouraged.

Die Covid19-Pandemie verstärkt soziale und ökonomische Herausforderungen in Europa, sodass Jugendarbeit im Hinblick auf die aktuellen Beschränkungen ebenso wichtig wie problematisch in der Umsetzung ist. Vor diesem Hintergrund haben sich im ViSAS-Projekt sieben europäische Partner aus Italien, Frankreich, Spanien und Deutschland zusammengefunden, um eine Möglichkeit zur Aktivierung nachwachsender Generationen zu erarbeiten und zu erproben: Die Transformation künstlerischer Methoden in den digitalen Raum. Ziel des Projekts ist es, einen virtuellen Raum für hybride künstlerische Jugendarbeit zu schaffen, Konzepte und Ideen zu seiner Nutzung zu entwickeln und seine Wirkung wissenschaftlich zu belegen, um seine Nutzung durch weitere Akteure zu ermöglichen.

Grundlage der Projektidee ist der innovative Ansatz der Sozialen Kunst, dessen Anwendung und Verbreitung in Europa bereits seit 2017 in zwei weiteren Erasmus+ Projekten ArtE und JobAct Europe vorangetrieben wurde und wird. In der Sozialen Kunst wird, beispielsweise mit Hilfe theaterpädagogischer Methoden, auf das Empowerment der/des Einzelnen gezielt. Da der Ansatz auf langjährige Erfolge in seiner Anwendung zurückblicken kann und europäische Verbreitung erfahren hat (ArtE-Blog) wird er nun in ViSAS auch im digitalen Raum angewandt. Dabei wird der digitale Raum zusammen mit Jugendlichen, Fachkräften aus der Jugendbildung und Kunst/Kultur sowie e-learning Entwickler*innen in transnationaler hybrider Arbeit entwickelt und erprobt.
